Mental Wellness In-Person Therapy Near You

Your Mental Wellness In-Person Therapy Questions Answered

Many Canadians face challenges accessing mental health support due to long waiting lists, costs, mobility barriers, or a lack of information about available resources. At WELL Mental Health & Wellness, we understand these challenges and are here to offer support.

Our in-person therapy service lets you connect face-to-face with a caring and experienced therapist at select WELL Health clinics. This direct, personal interaction creates a supportive and safe environment to share your thoughts, feelings, and concerns openly. Many of our clinics are conveniently located near public transit to ensure easy access, letting you see a therapist in person within days.

Our therapists offer thoughtful and personalized care for a wide range of conditions and concerns, including:

  • ADHD
  • Anxiety & depression
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Chronic illness and disability support
  • Eating disorders
  • Family dynamics
  • Grief and loss
  • LGBTQA+ support
  • Loneliness
  • OCD
  • PTSD
  • Relationship issues
  • Substance use and addiction
  • Trauma or abuse
  • And more

If you’re considering therapy or are new to the process, knowing what to expect is helpful. Here’s an overview of how in-person therapy typically works:

  1. Initial consultation: The process begins with an initial consultation, where you’ll share your reasons for seeking therapy, your goals, and some background information with your therapist.

  2. Regular sessions: After the initial consultation, you and your therapist will decide how often to meet. In these confidential sessions, you’ll discuss issues, explore thoughts and feelings, and find solutions.

  3. Therapeutic techniques: Your therapist may use various methods, like cognitive-behavioural therapy, psychodynamic therapy, or mindfulness, based on your needs.

  4. Goal setting and progress tracking: You’ll set goals and track progress to assess the therapy’s effectiveness and adjust.

  5. Homework assignments: In some therapies, you might be given exercises to work on between sessions. These assignments help you apply what you’ve learned in therapy to your daily life.

  6. Feedback and adjustments: Therapy is collaborative, so you’ll provide feedback on what’s working or not, and your therapist will adjust their approach accordingly.

In-person therapy offers several benefits that can enhance the therapeutic experience:

  1. Personal connection: Face-to-face interactions can build a stronger therapeutic relationship, fostering trust and rapport between you and your therapist.

  2. Non-verbal cues: Being in person allows your therapist to pick up on your body language and facial expressions, which can provide deeper insights into your feelings and experiences.

  3. Safe space: The physical presence of a therapist’s office can create a dedicated, safe space where you can feel more comfortable discussing sensitive issues.

  4. Distraction-free environment: A therapist’s office can provide a focused environment free from distractions that may occur at home or in other remote settings.

  5. Structured routine: Regular in-person appointments can help establish a consistent routine and provide a sense of commitment and accountability.

  6. Hybrid services: We offer both in-person and online therapy (phone, video, or secure messaging), giving you the flexibility to choose the format that best suits your needs while still providing personal support.

For WELL’s Mental Health & Wellness in-person therapy services there are a couple of ways in which you can speak to a therapist.

At select WELL Clinics, your doctor can refer you to WELL Health & Mental Wellness. After the referral, our team will quickly contact you to provide mental health resources, help with booking, and assist with navigation and therapist matching.

If you prefer not to go through a doctor for a referral? You can easily book an in-person therapy appointment online.

Coverage Information: Whether you get a referral from a doctor or book an appointment yourself, most of our services are covered by private insurance and corporate benefits plans.

Select Find a Clinic to locate clinics in your area. If you’re a new patient, you must call the clinic directly to register before you can book an appointment online through this method.

Select Book a Mental Health Appointment to go directly to the WELL Mental Health & Wellness booking page. Here, you’ll click “Book Appointment” to view available clinics in your region and complete your booking online. This option does not require you to call the clinic first.
